Today Shailendra stands at a position where he has not just established himself as a fine and famous singer (on stage as well as playback), he has also earned repute as a talented music composer of our times. Whatever his achievements point out, Shailendra’s mainstay as a career choice remains as a Semi Classical Singer. He wants to be known as a humble devotee of Goddess Saraswati, dedicating his being to the aradhna and flourish of the art form.
Although Shailendra is strictly a Classical Vocalist, he is at ease with light music also. Whether it is the interpretation of a Bhajan, a Ghazal or a filmi number - say of Kishore, Mohammed Rafi or Mukesh, Shailendra at once gets into the required mood and takes you on a journey of different octaves with subtle ease and charm to the extent that the listeners always want to listen to him more and more.
